For nearly thirty years I have worked as a full-time designer and maker of fine, handmade furniture. The life of the craftsman in contemporary culture is not an easy one, and as a husband and the father of six children, I have constantly struggled to balance making a living with doing work that is creative and uncompromised. I am not sure I have succeeded at either, but with God’s faithfulness and wonderful clients I continue the quest. This blog is a place where I can post news on recently completed pieces, works in progress, or random thoughts about design and life.To see some examples of my work, visit My Furniture Gallery.

Hi Louis,
First of all, I want to thank you for the presentation you gave at the Fine Woodworkers of Austin meeting last Thursday night. Your philosophy of tools is the same as mine – use the right tool for the job, be it a hand tool or power tool. To me, the joy is more the finished product than the process (but I do enjoy the process, too).
I noticed in you’re bio you, attribute your on-going success in part to God’s faithfulness – that brought a smile to my face… would like to know more where you stand in that.
Best Regards,
Chris Windsor
